180 / 90
The 180-day window, day by day
The chart separates past stays from the proposed trip; a red mark means the total exceeds 90.
A window that moves every day
After a stay from 1 January to 31 March, entering on 29 June produces 91 days in the window and exceeds 90. On 30 June, 1 January drops out: 89 old days plus one new day remain. The ten-day trip fits even though the initial balance is only one day, because more old days keep dropping out.
On each day of a stay, that day and the previous 179 are checked. It never resets by calendar month.
